Legend of Turbo Hen
A downloadable game for Windows
Practice your hopping/strafejumping skills as you race through an endless randomly generated dungeon! This is a proof of concept / prototype for the speedrun and procedural infinite dungeon modes in my game Cosmic Dawn.
Controls
WASD to move, SPACE to jump and doublejump. C or LSHIFT to slide. Sliding allows you to retain your momentum and ignore ground friction, at the expense of being able to move sideways. Use this to get underneath narrow passages which would be impossible to bunnyhop chickenhop underneath. The level geometry is reset upon respawning. There is no end or finish line. Water has no effect on speed.
CTRL+H - toggle Hud
CTRL+V - toggle FoV
CTRL+M - toggle music
CTRL+S - toggle all sound (including music)
LShift or C - turbo slide!
Future plans
- Add more dynamic elements like spike traps, rotating walls, etc
- Basic settings (fov, mouse sensitivity, hud/audio toggles)
- Movement controller customisation from within the game
- Lava/Acid pits that slow down the player or reduce momentum upon entry
- A superjump feature with significant cooldown
- Distance based difficulty increase
- Adding footsteps with movement-speed-relative rate
- Adding material/texture variations that trigger a change in footstep type
- Props and cosmetics and fluff

- Added crouch slide!
- Reworked movement physics somewhat again.

The version I just uploaded has some nicer movement physics including a base movement speed of 18.
